Q: What was the hardest part to write in Fishing for Bacon and why?

A: The love scenes. There are a couple love scenes. They are written humorously so that made it easier but I couldn’t help but keep thinking, “Oh God, my mother’s going to read this … oh God, my mother’s going to read this…”I attended an Alberta Writer’s Guild event on Writing the Uncomfortable. Suzette Mayr and Rosemary Nixon spoke with great wisdom and offered valuable insight on writing about difficult topics. Unfortunately the event was held just after my book was published. A little late for me. Oh well, now I’m quite prepared for the next book of uncomfortable subject matter.

Actually, I thought that some of those moments were very realistic in that, clearly, the characters were themselves (well, Bacon) were feeling awkward or uncertain about the situation.
